Jessica has been an active member of the Wisconsin Library Association (WLA) since she attended her first conference in 2008.

In 2009 she received the Graduate Student Library & Information Science Program Scholarship to attend the 2009 Wisconsin Association of Academic Librarians (WAAL) Annual Conference.  Part of the scholarship award included the opportunity to be matched with an academic librarian mentor, and special recognition at the opening day luncheon.  Jessica also presented a poster at this conference.  These experiences helped her to foster relationships with a wide network of LIS professionals early in her career, and it was through connections she made at this conference that she was invited to take on more leadership roles in the association.

Jessica has served on on the WLA Board of Directors since 2011.  Additionally, she served as Chair for the Support Staff and Circulation Services Section, taken on various roles for several conference planning committees, and volunteered for other ad hoc committees and task forces for the association.  She strongly values the importance of active participation in professional associations, especially in the LIS field, and in her current role as Academic Advisor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Information Studies, encourages student engagement in WLA activities & events.
