Jessica Hutchings has a background in Learning Technologies and Instructional Design, Library and Information Science, Academic Advising and Student Affairs, and history. In addition to her current position as an Instrumentation Innovator of Instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), she is also an instructor in the School of Information Studies.

In her role at the UWM Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, Jessica provides technical and pedagogical support for Desire2Learn (D2L) for instructors teaching online, blended, and technology-enhanced courses. She also assists with D2L administrative responsibilities, SIS integration, facilitates D2L workshops, and manages social media marketing and outreach for CETL. Additionally, Jessica specializes in assessment tools including the use of quizzing in an online environment and audience or student response systems (“clickers”).  She also co-manages an open textbook Ed Tech grant project, leads campus support for open educational resource digital content tool Ginkgotree, and manages the social media communications of the UWM Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.

Jessica was a featured presenter at the Sloan Consortium Blended Learning Conference in 2013, and has presented at various state, regional, national and international conferences for academic advising and library & information science professional associations and other teaching and learning organizations.

Her current areas of interest include student support in higher education, instructional technologies, instructional design, online education, active learning, open educational resources, information science, and academic libraries.
